Textures of Tropical Chic

Hi Everyone!

I don't know about you but I am currently melting in this heatwave we are currently having in the UK. It doesn't make for very productive crafting unfortunately! Luckily today is a bit cooler so I jumped into my craft room and grabbed my favourite suite from the new catalogue - Tropical Chic!

I absolutely adore this suite - the colours are so vibrant and it's absolutely perfect for Summer. I decided not to use the papers in this suite for this particular card as I wanted to go even brighter to match the Summer Sun at the moment.

I wanted to create a textured background for this card but didn't have a suitable embossing folder. So I grabbed the brand new Big Shot Embossing Mats and the Tropical dies - this is so easy to use, just put your Big Shot 'sandwich' together using the instructions, and hey presto, you can use your dies to create an embossed texture!  I then use the Aqua Painter to colour in the embossed Shimmery White card with my favourite bright colours - Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green and Melon Mambo. This is how it turned out:

I then sponged a piece of 7cm by 7cm square Whisper White card with the same colours and added another die cut (this time actually cut not embossed!)

Once this was done, I wanted to add a Birthday sentiment, and found that the 'Happy Birthday' from the Southern Serenade stamp set fit perfectly into one of the leaf dies. So I added this and some ribbon and there you have it. I love this card as it's so bright and cheerful. I hope you love it too!
